The motive behind Kova Therapeutics was born when the founder’s mother started developing symptoms of Parkinson’s. They tried remedies, dietary adjustments, and lifestyle changes, but none seemed to have any positive impact on her symptoms. The answer found her when she received a bottle of CBD oil as a gift. After taking the product regularly, her anxiety and her tremors subsided, and she was finally able to sleep normally again.

By experimenting with products, they soon learned that the CBD marketplace is full of brands with little to no transparency or quality control, and some that even make false claims about what their products contain. Determined to ensure the product she was taking was safe and effective, her son decided to make his own custom formulas. We hope that others will also be able to benefit from these products the way she has.

CBD stands for cannabidiol, which is a naturally occurring compound found in the hemp plant. CBD is safe, non-addictive, and is one of more than a hundred “phytocannabinoids,” which give both hemp and cannabis plants their unique therapeutic properties.

While CBD is closely related to THC, it is not psychoactive, meaning that it does not cause consumers to feel high.

It works in the body by mimicking and increasing the effects of naturally-occurring compounds in our body called endogenous cannabinoids. These endogenous cannabinoids are part of the regulatory system in our body called the endocannabinoid system, which is responsible for maintaining physiological processes that affect our mood, energy levels, blood pressure, pain, hunger, and stress levels, among other things.

Research has shown that many pathological conditions are often accompanied by an improperly functioning endocannabinoid system. Although this does not imply a causal relationship, the National Institutes of Health suggests that maintaining proper endocannabinoid system function is likely to have therapeutic potential in many different diseases that affect humans.

Over the last decade, use of cannabidiol (CBD) has rapidly grown in popularity due to its many health benefits. CBD, along with other cannabinoids found in full spectrum oil, can play an extremely vital role in maintaining homeostasis throughout the body, and in helping to prevent conditions in which disease can arise.

Extensive scientific research – much of it sponsored by the US Government – suggest that CBD may be effective at helping with a wide range symptoms and health conditions. CBD is being studied at several academic research centers around the world for its potential to help patients with cancer and epilepsy, among other things.
